Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers from the playoffs. They have won in Game 5, 108:106.
Throughout much of this series, the first half was mostly dominated by the Lakers. This was no exception this time. The game was played in series, and the team from the “City of Angels” had an eight-point lead at one point. However, this advantage was quickly nullified, and they only had a three-point lead at halftime.
The turning point may have been Anthony Davis‘ injury. He injured his shoulder in a duel with Michael Porter Jr. but remained in the game. Up to that moment, he had 16 points, and he finished the match with 17.
Jamal Murray had another shooting night that could be described as poor (13/28). However, when the game is on the line, it’s clear who the ball goes to in the current NBA champion team. The Canadian ran almost the entire court, stopped, and took the shot that he made three seconds before the end of the game. Taurean Prince attempted a half-court shot but failed to make it, and thus the Denver Nuggets secured their ticket to a duel with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Nikola Jokic finished the game with 25 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists. The game’s hero, Murray, had 32 points. Michael Porter Jr. scored 26 points with a very efficient 8/12 from the field.
On the other side, LeBron James scored 30 points, with Austin Reaves following him with 19 points. As previously mentioned, Davis scored 17 points.
