Nikola Jokic, the center of the Denver Nuggets, spoke about his passion for basketball and likened it to horse racing.
Throughout Nikola Jokic’s career, he has often been criticized for many things. He has been targeted for his weight, for skipping duties with the Serbian national team, for allegedly not being interested in basketball, and for supposedly preferring horse racing over basketball.
However, he has responded to critics on the court. He has three MVP awards, an NBA title with the Denver Nuggets, an NBA Finals MVP title, and a silver medal from the Olympic Games with Serbia. Now, he has sent a message to those who doubt his love for the game.
“You’ve seen a few times when other players pull me or grab my leg. I love that kind of play on the basketball court. This is just how we play in Serbia. That’s what I want to continue doing. Not to make a fight, but just to get passion into the game. I don’t want basketball to just be a job. I just want to keep that passion. It’s better than racing horses,” stated the Serbian big man.
