Nikola Jokic delivered another stellar performance in the NBA, leading his team to victory against the Toronto Raptors on the road.
After a five-year hiatus, Denver celebrated a win in Toronto. Reporters were curious about what the defending champions need to do to maintain their championship level.
“To not be satisfied with some success we had last year. The entire starting lineup remains the same. We have some changes in the second unit, whether they are good or bad, I don’t know yet. We have young players who have the opportunity to prove themselves.
The goal is to play as we played, to avoid fluctuations, and if things go south, not to panic, to believe in what brought us the title,” said Nikola Jokic. He was also asked about his plans for the summer when the Olympic Games take place.
“When the season is over, I will decide with my team, as I have always done,” said the Serbian basketball player.
He scored 31 points against Toronto, and now he has scored 30 or more points against every team in the NBA.
“That’s nice. I know some players who have scored even more against every team.”
He was asked if he remembers when he met Toronto coach Darko Rajakovic.
“I think it was when he was in Oklahoma. We have always been good, we have great communication, a great and healthy relationship, I would say. Two days ago was a celebration, I don’t know if you know, Saint Nicholas. I was at his home, we celebrated.“
Nikola Jokic also mentioned that he follows Partizan and Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague as much as he can.
“I follow, I try to follow. They played yesterday. Partizan beat Valencia, and Zvezda lost to Real. I follow as much as I can. I’m glad we have two participants in the EuroLeague. Zvezda has a weaker start or score, however you want to put it. Partizan has woken up, playing a bit better, so I’m glad we brought European basketball to Serbia, that’s very important.”
