Nikola Jokic is on track to potentially win the MVP award for the third time in the last four NBA seasons with the team from Colorado.
The Denver Nuggets finished this season as the second-placed team in the Western Conference standings. The reigning champions of the NBA narrowly missed the opportunity to clinch the top spot after being defeated by the San Antonio Spurs, despite holding a lead of over 20 points.
However, Jokic’s impressive statistics throughout the season have rightfully positioned him as the leading candidate for the Most Valuable Player award. In the first round of the playoffs, the Denver Nuggets will face the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, they have not lost against LeBron James and his team in their last eight games.
Of the 22 votes counted so far, Nikola Jokic is decisively in first place with 17 votes for “numero uno,” and interestingly, he also has two votes as second in the MVP race.
Stephen A. Smith, Kendrick Perkins, Chris Mannix, and James Edwards did not vote for the Serbian center as their top choice in the MVP selection.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is in second place with four votes for first place, as well as four votes for second place. Among the current voters, the Oklahoma City Thunder player has six selections as third option and one as fourth.
In third position is Luka Doncic, who has received only one vote for the MVP title. He has been chosen six times as second and third in this competition.
