Nikola Jokic has been lobbying behind the scenes with the Denver Nuggets, because he wants a new teammate who is a former MVP.
He wields a significant amount of influence within the Denver Nuggets organization, and now there’s information suggesting he wants a former MVP on the team.
According to Harrison Wind of “DNVR Sport,” Jokic is keen on having Russell Westbrook join the team in Colorado.
“I’ve been told that Nikola Jokic is actively involved behind the scenes to bring Westbrook to Denver. He wants him on the team. This isn’t the first time. He has wanted to play with him before,” said Harrison Wind.
However, there’s a hurdle. The MVP from the 2016/2017 season has decided to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers for the upcoming year, earning around four million dollars next season.
Last season, the popular “Brodie” averaged 11.1 points, five rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. In addition to being the NBA MVP, he holds the record for the most triple-doubles with 199.
On the other hand, the Denver Nuggets have not been able to defend their championship this season. They lost in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
