Nikola Jokic once again led the Denver Nuggets to win, this time defeating the Golden State Warriors in a close game by 108:105.
The clash between the champions of the last two NBA seasons was highly competitive, and the fact that the Serbian center had an exceptionally tough task was evident. Besides facing a high-quality team from San Francisco, the Colorado team was without the injured Jamal Murray, placing an additional burden on Nikola Jokic.
Throughout the game, there were 10 lead changes, and interestingly, the score was tied on 10 occasions. The game was decided in the final period and in a nail-biting finish, even though the Nuggets held a slight advantage throughout the decisive quarter.
Reggie Jackson scored to make it 105-102, and after the Golden State Warriors failed to capitalize on their possession, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added two more points. Then, responsibility fell on Steph Curry, who hit a three-pointer to increase the suspense.
Denver held a two-point lead, and Nikola Jokic found himself at the free-throw line. After missing both free throws, Curry took matters into his own hands once again, but he missed the three-pointer for the win. Jackson then sealed the victory for the Nuggets from the free-throw line.
Nikola Jokic finished the game with 35 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Reggie Jackson contributed with 20 points and six assists, while Michael Porter Jr. scored 17 points. On the other side, Steph Curry led with 23 points, and Klay Thompson stopped at 15.
With this win, the Denver Nuggets remained the top team in the Western Conference. After nine games played, the defending NBA champions have only suffered one loss, and they seem to be in fantastic form as they pursue another championship title.
