Nikola Jokic notched another triple-double in the Denver Nuggets’ victory over the New Orleans Pelicans – 134:116.
The first quarter was quite evenly matched, and the visiting team, the Denver Nuggets, went into the brief intermission with a slight advantage (27:25). The main contributor to the Nuggets’ respectable deficit in the first quarter was Nikola Jokic, who scored an impressive 12 out of his team’s 25 points.
In the early stages of the second quarter, the New Orleans Pelicans built a double-digit lead, which they maintained successfully until halftime, largely thanks to the excellent performances by Jordan Hawkins and Dyson Daniels – the score was 71:59.
Michael Porter Jr. and Reggie Jackson managed to reduce the Nuggets’ deficit early in the third quarter, followed by a 10-0 run for a complete turnaround – 87:80. The guests were unable to regain momentum until the end of the period, and the team from Colorado entered the final 12 minutes with a seven-point lead (99:92).
Julian Strawther’s fantastic performance quickly turned the Denver Nuggets’ lead into a double-digit advantage, and a new 9-0 run officially sealed the reigning NBA champions’ victory (124:108). Towards the end, we witnessed a mini-run by the New Orleans Pelicans, but it didn’t significantly affect the final outcome.
Nikola Jokic was the most prolific in the Nuggets’ victory, finishing the game with 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. The talented Jordan Hawkins stood out for the New Orleans Pelicans, scoring 31 points.
With this triple double, Jokic passes LeBron James and Jason Kidd for the fourth most triple-doubles in NBA history.
The Denver Nuggets remain at the top of the Western Conference with a record of seven wins and one loss, while the New Orleans Pelicans are fifth in the standings with a record of 4-3.
We witnessed an exciting game in Brooklyn, where the Nets faced the Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn had a relatively weak start to the season with three wins and three losses, while their opponents had only two losses. The home team had a better start, and Cam Thomas played a significant role. Thanks to his contributions, Jacque Vaughn’s team went into halftime with a three-point lead.
While Thomas led the team in scoring, it’s impossible not to mention Ben Simmons, who played excellent defense in the first half and was very active on the rebound(15 at the end). However, in the second half, Giannis Antetokounmpo emerged and brought the lead back to his team. Unlike previous seasons, the Bucks now have Damian Lillard, which was evident in the closing moments of the game when he calmly sealed the victory with free throws.
Despite his outstanding performance, Thomas’s efforts were not rewarded, and the Brooklyn player finished the game with 45 points. On the other hand, Giannis scored 36 points.
