Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama had a memorable battle that ended in favor of the Denver Nuggets, who defeated the Spurs 110:105.
The intense battle took place at Ball Arena between the two towering centers. Both of them shined, and the young Frenchman tried to make a statement. He managed to block the Serbian several times, but that didn’t deter Jokić, who even had a dunk over the young French player.
The game remained tight throughout its duration, with neither team establishing a significant lead until the very end. The score was tied at 105:105 with a minute left, but then Michael Porter stepped up, hitting a crucial three-pointer. Following that, the two-time NBA MVP made both free throws, securing the Nuggets’ 53rd win of the season.
Wembanyama flirted with a quadruple-double, recording 23 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, and nine blocks. However, his shooting was subpar, going 9 for 29 from the field. Malaki Branham led the Spurs in scoring with 24 points.
Nikola Jokic, as usual, delivered an outstanding performance. He scored 42 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Aaron Gordon contributed 23 points, while Porter added 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds.
The Denver Nuggets reclaimed the top spot in the Western Conference standings. They now have 53 wins and 23 losses, while the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder each have 52 wins but with one fewer game played. On the other hand, the Spurs remain at the bottom of the table with only 18 wins.
