Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets were soundly defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks, but the Serbian can take pride in setting a new record.
To defeat the Bucks, a good portion of the team needs to be in top form. That wasn’t the case for the Denver Nuggets last night. Only the center from Sombor managed to surpass the 20-point mark, while the others fell below their standard level.
The first quarter was somewhat balanced, but then the team from Wisconsin displayed all their offensive talent in the second quarter. They even reached a lead of plus 22, which was the largest at that point.
If the previous quarter was bad for the Nuggets, this one was even worse. Doc Rivers‘ relentless squad reached a new maximum lead of plus 28. The reigning NBA champions didn’t give up, but it was too late for any significant comeback, and thus the Bucks deservedly celebrated a 112-95 victory.
However, Nikola Jokic surpassed Vlade Divac on the all-time NBA scoring list. The Sombor native now has 13,421 points, leaving behind the former Sacramento Kings ace, who has a total of 13,398 points. Ahead of him is only Peja Stojakovic, who scored 13,647 points during his career.
The Serbian center finished this game with 29 points and 12 rebounds. His closest follower was Aaron Gordon, who scored 14. On the other side, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 36 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Damian Lillard finished the game with 18 points.
