After Barcelona’s triumph against Olympiacos in Piraeus, Nikola Kalinic spoke to ‘Sportal‘ about the Serbian national team and Crvena Zvezda.
His team emerged victorious after overtime by 82:80, thus taking a 2-1 lead. They need one more win to secure a spot in the Final Four in Berlin.
When asked if he’s in contact with coach Svetislav Pesic and if there’s a chance he’ll participate in the Olympic Games, he responded quite clearly:
“Well, honestly, no. No, I think I’m done with that kind of participation. Neither mentally nor physically, I don’t think I can fight anymore in the way that’s needed. It’s time for younger guys to play and to show themselves, especially after last season’s success. I think it’s all clear there.”
Regarding a potential return to Crvena Zvezda?
“I don’t know, I’m trying not to think about it, to finish what we have now. I’m trying to put all of that on hold during the playoffs. I’m trying to finish the season’s finale with as much focus as possible,” said Nikola Kalinic.
