Nikola Topic is set to join the Serbian national basketball team, as confirmed by his agent, Misko Raznatović, on Twitter.
It’s worth recalling that Nikola Topic recently officially became a new player for Mega Bemax, where he will compete on loan from Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade).
During the previous season, Topic had already played for the red-and-whites, but he went on loan to OKK Beograd halfway through the season. It’s noteworthy that the promising guard was named the MVP of the recently concluded European U18 Championship.

In the final against Spain, Topic scored 24 points, playing a crucial role in Serbia’s triumph and their ascent to the top of European basketball.
Mega recently played a friendly match against the University of Southern California on Mykonos (76-73), and after a splendid debut where Topic contributed 12 points, he returned to Serbia. There, he will continue preparations for the FIBA World Cup alongside the national team.
“Following his outstanding debut for Mega Bemax, Nikola Topic is leaving the club’s preparations today and flying to Belgrade. In agreement with coach Pesic, it is expected that he will join the national team for his first practice session tonight,” Misko Raznatovic wrote on his Twitter account.
Recalling recent developments, Nemanja Nedovic was removed from coach Svetislav Pesic’s selection due to his decision not to continue with the Serbian national team this summer.
“My commitment to the jersey, the country, and the national team I have proudly represented throughout my career has never been in question. Therefore, to avoid any misconceptions in the public eye, I feel the obligation to explain why I will no longer be a part of the national team heading to the World Cup. I have always set high goals for myself, but as the preparations, which I awaited with joy as always, progressed, I realized that I am far from the desired level of form required for such a competition and for our team,” Nedovic stated, adding:
“Unfortunately, I didn’t find my role fitting and, consequently, couldn’t contribute maximally to the national team. As the interest of the team and the majority takes precedence over any individual interest, I sincerely shared my thoughts with coach Svetislav Pesic, to whom I am very grateful for the trust he showed. I wish the guys and the coach all the luck and success at the World Cup, and I believe they will make us proud.”
