Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Oded Kattash spoke after the game against Crvena Zvezda in the context of the EuroLeague and the 16th round.
Oded Kattash aimed to secure another winin the elite competition after his team triumphed over Baskonia in the previous round. However, they were thwarted by Milos Teodosic’s standout performance of the season.
“One of those days. In the first quarter, we played well but missed several open shots. The game was played at a high pace by both teams. Credit to them, they played better, had excellent plays. Teodosic controlled the situation, and we tried to change defenders on him, but he found a way and had a significant impact on the game. We are disappointed, and fortunately, some injuries are less severe than it seemed. We have to keep our heads up. A double round is never easy, many things happen in the second game. The better team won,” emphasized Kattash.
“Many teams face problems against Real Madrid, but they played well tonight, found an answer for every situation on the court, had an impact through Teodosic. They have a good roster with a very good coach. They are very dangerous, possessing a lot of offensive weapons; they made many shots, and on a shooting night like this, it’s tough,” commented the coach.
“We miss the audience, the home court. The situation is crazy for us. We couldn’t find a better place than Belgrade. We miss playing in front of the fans, that’s why we play basketball. We were behind for most of the game, we weren’t relaxed enough. They beat us twice last season, there’s something about karma and Crvena Zvezda. We need to understand why,” concluded Kattash.
In the next round, Crvena Zvezda will be visiting Panathinaikos, while Maccabi Tel Aviv will be playing against Zalgiris.
