Oded Kattash, the head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, spoke after his team’s win against Panatathinaikos in the EuroLeague Game 4.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv coach emphasizes that fatigue and player injuries largely influenced the loss in Belgrade.
“It’s a tough feeling… We wanted this win and had good chances until three minutes left. They made some big shots, we missed, turned the ball over… Some players are very tired, some are missing, it’s tough to endure that intensity in the playoffs, it’s not easy,” said Oded Kattash, then added:
“We put in a lot of effort, and I am proud of my players. This was not an easy game to play. We showed character, we have to keep our heads up. Let’s go to Athens and try to do something special.”
Maccabi Tel Aviv now faces an extremely tough task, as they have to triumph in the packed OAKA Arena.
“It won’t be easy, the atmosphere there is great. We need to rest and recover now. Everything is okay, all of this is part of sports, we were close. Of course, we want to do something special, to stick together. We want to show that with our body language. No one gave us a chance to be here after everything that happened in Israel at the beginning of the season.”
