Oded Kattash, the coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, spoke after his team’s win against Zalgiris in Kaunas with a score of 78:70.
The Israeli coach was very pleased with the team’s performance and emphasized that this was a crucial win considering the various circumstances.
“A great win for us given the circumstances. Our team was together for only 24 hours yesterday. We had only one practice. We lost Wade, but many players stepped up today. Good defense for 40 minutes. We played the third quarter offensively brilliantly. We played a good game, and we know we are better than our current results. We missed winning the previous games, but we didn’t miss this one, and I’m very happy about that,” Oded Kattash began.
“From a coaching perspective, the situation is not ideal, but nothing has been the same since October 7th. The management is trying to keep us together, but traveling back home to Belgrade, then on away games, is difficult. I hope the situation will be eased, and we will keep the team together. The schedule is tough throughout the EuroLeague. We have to find common ground and keep the team together, and that’s what we insist on.”
“Every player has their problems, and that’s not my concern. For me, as a coach, and the entire staff, it’s important to have the team together. We travel a lot, and I hope we’ll find a concrete solution.“
“Personally, I like coming here. You can feel that basketball is more than a game here. I love spending time in Lithuania, but in our crazy world, we can’t plan more than 4-5 days ahead, and we’ll be ready, taking it one day at a time.”
