Ognjen Dobric, Virtus shooting guard and a former member of Crvena Zvezda, spoke to Basketball Sphere about numerous topics.
In the hearts of Crvena zvezda fans, Ognjen Dobric left a big mark. Already at the age of 28, he managed to climb to fifth place on the all-time list in terms of number of appearances for the red and whites from Belgrade. He won the ABA League four times, was the champion of Serbia six times and added four trophies from the Serbian Cup to that.
The significance of the red and white jersey
Ognjen Dobric joined the first team in the 2016/17 season, progressing through the club’s youth selections. Certainly, everyone has seen his photos from the stands at games when he was still in his teenage days. After about a decade, he became an idol to the younger fans of Crvena Zvezda.

Period with Dusko Ivanovic in the previous season
The latest coach he collaborated with at Crvena Zvezda was Dusko Ivanovic. After a poor start to the season under Vladimir Jovanovic, with a 1-6 record in the EuroLeague, the experienced Montenegrin coach took over. He managed to rally the team, and the Serbian club secured six consecutive wins in the EuroLeague.
The story about the intensity of his training sessions became famous, and it seemed that Ognjen Dobric successfully adapted to it, as he arguably became the team’s best player towards the end of the season.
