Bayern head coach Pablo Laso has revealed why he decided to strengthen the Bavarians this summer in an interview for the club’s website.
Laso emphasized his special connection with the team’s director in Munich, Marko Pesic, with whom, as he stated, he has a very good relationship.
“I have known him and his family for decades, and we have always been close. From the very beginning, I felt that we share the same vision when it comes to Bayern. It also seemed like the perfect time – German basketball is growing, not just because of the World Cup but also because the league is making significant progress. Some inner feeling told me that I was making the right decision” – Laso said.
The Spanish expert also discussed his mindset throughout his career, in which he has won more than 20 trophies.
“If I were to talk about what I’ve accomplished, it wouldn’t go well. If I told the players that I’m the one who won everything at Real Madrid, what response would I get? ‘Okay, great, but we are Bayern. We want to win tomorrow. We don’t care about what you did before.’
Let me give you an example. If you reach 1,500 assists in the Liga Endesa, you receive a gift. I received it as a player, but now I have no idea where it is or what it looks like. It’s probably with my mother in Vitoria” – Laso said.
