Partizan has announced in detail what actions has it taken against their player Bruno Caboclo, who left the team on his own accord.
We are sharing the statement from BC Partizan in its entirety:
Due to committed violations, BC Partizan Mozzart Bet demands from Bruno Caboclo an amount equivalent to five months’ salary.
“KK Partizan, after completing the disciplinary procedure, decided on June 14 to penalize basketball player Bruno Caboclo with a monetary amount equivalent to his five months’ salary. The penalty was imposed for failing to meet contractual obligations, missing training sessions and matches, i.e., leaving the team voluntarily.
In this regard, BC Partizan emphasizes that at the time of the disciplinary violations, there were no outstanding debts towards Bruno Caboclo, and the club has the right to retain the player for the next season, which it will exercise.
The information released to the public about the player’s obligations towards the Brazilian national team is neither accurate nor in accordance with FIBA rules. According to FIBA’s internal rules, Book 3, Article 38a states that the preparation time for the Olympic qualifying tournament and other official senior qualifying matches is 14 days before the first match. Therefore, the club is under no obligation to release the player earlier. In support of this, the Brazilian national team coach Aleksandar PetroviC stated that Bruno Caboclo and Yago dos Santos are obliged to appear in the Brazilian training camp only after completing their obligations in the Serbian national championship.
On May 29, Bruno Caboclo’s agent sent an invitation via WhatsApp signed by Carlos Fontanele for a supposed medical examination on May 31. According to FIBA rules, the club is not obliged to release the player before completing club obligations in the KLS. We remind you that the potential third game of the final series was scheduled for June 8. According to FIBA’s internal rules, Book 3, Article 37, the invitation can only be sent from the official registered email address of national federations, which never happened.
The club officially contacted the Brazilian Basketball Federation on June 5 and requested the results of the alleged medical examinations, as well as an explanation of whether the invitation sent by the agent was ever officially issued by the federation and whether it was even official. No response was ever received.
According to the club’s information, Bruno Caboclo landed in Brazil from America only on June 16, which confirms that it was a voluntary decision by the player to leave his workplace for other reasons and head to another continent.
BC Partizan has informed the relevant bodies in FIBA about all this and sought protection of its rights.”
