Pat Riley criticized Jimmy Butler for his statement after being eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the Round 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Boston Celtics won convincingly with a 4-1 series score, and Jimmy Butler, who was injured, said that the Miami Heat would have eliminated the Celtics if he had been healthy.
Pat Riley didn’t like that, first questioning whether Butler was joking or serious. This was followed by criticism.
“If you’re not on the court to play against the Celtics, New York Knicks, you should keep your mouth shut,” Riley said.
This season, Butler averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5 assists in 60 NBA games.
