Predrag Danilovic discussed the chances of Nikola Jokic playing for the national team in an interview for Sportski Zurnal.
There is no doubt that Serbia will do everything possible to go to the Paris Olympics with the strongest lineup, but of course, there are various factors that need to align.
The central topic is undoubtedly Nikola Jokic, whose status probably won’t be known until the end of the NBA season.
“Let’s wait and see if he’ll be on the coach’s list (laughs). Seriously, it’s too early to talk about it. The season is only halfway through, we’re all thrilled with the brilliant performances of Jokic and Bogdanovic, and I’m glad Micic had a good start with the Charlotte Hornets,” said Predrag Danilovic, then added:
“However, there’s no need to speculate on the names of the players who will be in the lineup. In any case, I hope Svetislav Pesic, Marina Maljkovic, and Marko Zdero will have sweet headaches, and that unforeseen circumstances won’t disrupt our plans.”
The teams that have secured their spots in the Olympic Games so far are: Serbia, France (host), Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, South Sudan, and Japan.
The remaining participants will be known after the qualification tournaments in Spain, Latvia, Greece, and Puerto Rico conclude (August 2nd – August 7th).
