Real Madrid defeated Baskonia on their home court by 101:90 in the second game of the EuroLeague quarterfinals.
Once again, Dusko Ivanovic didn’t have Chima Moneke and Khalifa Diop available due to injuries.
Vanja Marinkovic played exceptionally well in this game, keeping his team in the game with his points. However, Chus Mateo’s team, led by Guershon Yabusele, started to dominate, gradually building a significant lead (70:57). The third quarter ended with Mike Kotsar’s points and a foul, reducing Real Madrid’s lead to 74:63.
In the final quarter, Real Madrid’s lead continued to grow, with Gabriel Deck and Sergio Rodriguez leading the European champions to a maximum lead of +22 (85:63). Baskonia tried to make a comeback, but the hosts calmly maintained their large lead until the end of the game.
Facundo Campazzo led Real Madrid to a 2-0 series lead with his 24 points. He was supported by Guershon Yabusele with 16 points and Sergio Llull with 13 points. In Dusko Ivanovic’s team, the top performers were Vanja Marinkovic with 18 points and Codi Miller-McIntyre with 13 points.
The third game between Real Madrid and Baskonia will be played on Wednesday at 8:30 PM.
