Real Madrid secured its tenth victory in the Spanish Liga Endesa with a home win at the ‘WiZink Center’ against Andorra. The final score was 85:76 in favor of the team from the Spanish capital.
Both teams struggled with poor shooting in the opening minutes. Real Madrid held a slight advantage, mainly thanks to offensive rebounds, ending the first quarter with a 20:16 lead.
Mario Hezonja stepped up in the second quarter, leading a 12:1 run that gave the home team a 40:24 lead. Jean Montero was the only bright spot for Andorra, helping the visitors reduce the deficit to 43:33 by the end of the first half.
Despite Andorra’s efforts to stay within ten points during the third quarter, trailing 69:59 heading into the decisive period, Real Madrid couldn’t break their opponent’s resistance.
Andorra’s zone defense confused Real Madrid, allowing Mihajlo Andric and Montero to hit three consecutive three-pointers, bringing the deficit to just four points (76:72) five minutes before the end. However, they couldn’t muster more, succumbing to their fourth consecutive defeat.
Mario Hezonja, following his stellar performance of 26 points against Alba Berlin, led his team again with 21 points and six rebounds. Walter Tavares scored 16 points with nine rebounds, while Dzanan Musa finished with 14. In the losing team, Jean Montero dominated with 25 points.
The ‘Royal Club’ maintained its top spot in the standings with a 10-1 record. On the other hand, their opponent, after four straight losses, now has a 4-7 record. In the next round of the Liga Endesa, Real Madrid will face Breogan, while Andorra will play against Girona.
