Real Madrid secured another win in the fourth round of the EuroLeague, defeating Milano 88-71 on their home turf.
Milano, who were considered to have the best defense at the start of the EuroLeague, struggled to find solutions against Real Madrid’s guards. After the first 20 minutes, the score was tied at 42-42, and in the second half, the play of Facundo Campazzo and Sergio Llull, who guided their team to a comfortable win, made the difference.
Llull ended the game with 19 points, Mario Hezonja added 13, and Facundo Campazzo had 12 points and 10 assists. On the other side, Shavon Shields scored 16 points, and Nikola Mirotic contributed 13 points.
Real Madrid will host Barcelona in the next round, while Milano will travel to Berlin to face Alba.
Milano’s basketball players had a better first quarter. They played with physicality and a lot of contact, and towards the end of the quarter, they managed to get under the skin of the home team, finishing the first 10 minutes with a seven-point lead.
In the second quarter, the home team began with a 5-2 run, mainly thanks to Mario Hezonja, quickly getting back into the game. Hezonja utilized the assists from Facundo Campazzo, who had six of them in the first half. On the other side, Nikola Mirotic played a solid game, and after the first 20 minutes, the score was tied at 42-42, with Sergio Llull hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer.
The second half started with Real playing much better, turning the score around to lead 55-51. Facundo Campazzo was instrumental in this comeback after scoring five points. During the third quarter, the home team managed to establish a double-digit lead for the first time, heading into the final 10 minutes with a score of 67-61.
At the beginning of the last quarter, after Sergio Llull’s fourth and fifth three-pointers, Real once again had a double-digit lead of 75-61, which they maintained until the end, securing another victory.
