Following Bruce Brown’s departure, the Denver Nuggets utilized the Taxpayer mid-level exception in the 2023 offseason to sign Jackson as their main backup point guard. A native of Colorado Springs, Jackson performed well during the regular season but saw reduced playoff minutes to 9.8 per game, as he and Murray faced challenges playing together effectively.
Despite this, Jackson remained a dependable asset in Denver’s backcourt during the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 assists, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.2 three-pointers per game across all appearances. He shot 43.1% from the field and 35.9% from beyond the arc.
With Jackson’s decision Monday, there are 11 roster spots officially occupied for the upcoming season. Vlatko Cancar is also likely to re-sign with the Nuggets on a new one-year minimum contract after they declined his team option Sunday, a league source told The Post. If Cancar does re-sign, that leaves three openings, with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s player option deadline looming Saturday. League sources expect him to decline the option and attract a robust market in free agency.
