Shocking news are coming from the Spanish national team camp this weekend with statement that starting point guard, Ricky Rubio, has decided to put a stop to his professional career indefinitely in order to address his mental health issues.
The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) made an announcement on his behalf and stated their condolences, admiration, and compassion for Rubio.
❤️Mucho ánimo, Ricky.

Este es el comunicado íntegro que ha transmitido Ricky Rubio:

“I have decided to stop my professional activity to take care of my mental health. I want to thank all the support I have received from the FEB to understand my decision. Today La Familia makes more sense than ever. Thank you. I would ask that my privacy be respected so that I can face these moments and be able to give more information when the time is right” – Rubio stated in this unexpected address.
Ricky Rubio was expected to be one of the key players in Sergio Scariolo’s team, and lead La Roja once again on the road to defend the World championship title, which they surprisingly won four years ago in China.
After starting his career at Joventut, Rubio later signed with Barçelona in 2009 as a child prodigy, being part of the Euroleague-winning team in Paris Final Four 2010. As a European wunderkid, he made trip overseas and made his NBA debut in the summer of 2011 for Minnesota Timberwolves. He spent twelve seasons in the NBA, where he also played for Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers, where he should return in October if this break does not mean the definite end.
