Roger Grimau, head coach of Barcelona, spoke to the media ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Madrid.
On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet for the first time in the new season.
“In Barcelona, we always want to win. From day one. We can describe it however we want, it’s true that the team had its first training together yesterday, but we are ready to compete” – said Grimau and added that the players know that the match with Real is not an ordinary Super Cup semifinal.
“I don’t need to explain much to them, most of last year’s squad is there, they know what kind of rivalry it is.“
“They are a great team that has been together for a long time. The incorporation of Campazzo is easy, because he already knows the team. They have been playing at a high level for years, we will have to be very good to compete. At the moment, none of the players are at 100 percent.
Barcelona must always be ready to win. We will see what happens, but we are ready to compete, Barca is always the favorite.“
The former “Blaugrana” basketball player also spoke about the transitional period of the Catalan team, as well as the health status of the players.
“The preparations took a short time, but that’s how it is. We started when the health of the players allowed it. I am satisfied with the work done so far. Today, players take good care of their bodies. Preparations are not so much necessary for physical fitness, but more at the level of getting to know the teammates among themselves and with the coaching staff” – concluded Roger Grimau.
