Roger Grimau, in an interview with ‘Eurohoops‘, talked about the upcoming season, ambitions, and also addressed the people who doubt him.
The Spanish EuroLeague team underwent significant changes during the summer. Sarunas Jasikevicius was dismissed from his position as head coach, and Grimau took his place. The Catalan coach shared his initial impressions of the new “Blaugrana” team.
“The team is okay at this moment, but we need to adopt some new mechanisms. We had relatively short preparations. Many players haven’t trained with the team, and we will continue to monitor the team-building process” – began the former Barcelona player.
He also spoke about the loss in the Spanish Super Cup semifinals to Real Madrid, and as the new coach of the Catalan giant emphasized, he drew many lessons from that defeat.
“I am someone who tries to see positive things in life. There were moments when we weren’t good, and Real Madrid capitalized on that, but we showed a good image. It wasn’t enough, and I’m not happy about it. We wanted to win, and we always want to compete, but I try to see the positive aspects”.
“I will give my life to Barcelona”
In the end, he addressed the people who doubt him. Grimau said that he doesn’t pay too much attention to such things and also sent a strong message.
“At the external level, since I don’t have social media nor plan to use them, I don’t pay attention to it. If there are people like that, I hope their life goes well, and I hope not to disappoint them, and things go well. It’s not something that worries me. I have, I had, and I will have a completely clear conscience. I will give my life for Barcelona, I have always done so, and I will do it in the future” – Grimau concluded.
