Roger Grimau, head coach of Barcelona, spoke after the game against Partizan in the EuroLeague’s third round.
Grimau and his team aimed for a third consecutive win in the elite competition, following wins over Anadolu Efes and Olympiacos on the road, and they succeeded in another outstanding performance by the Catalan team.
“Of course, we played an excellent game, starting from the first quarter, which was the key. In the second quarter, especially in the third, we knew that Partizan was an aggressive team. We resisted their attacks and tried to find good situations for ourselves. We shared the ball well and played defense, which is not easy against the players that Partizan has,” Roger Grimau said.
The Spanish coach then highlighted what was crucial.
“We controlled the rebounds; I think we had 16 offensive rebounds. That’s very good for a team. We also controlled the tempo and turnovers. At the same time, we played in transition, which is not easy. We knew that if we gave away easy points, it would be tough for us.”
He also touched on the fans, the referees, and his team.
“The atmosphere is incredible. It’s a privilege to play here. I was part of teams in ‘Pionir,’ where it was also fantastic. When it comes to the referees, I try not to talk about them. I’m very happy with the team. We didn’t have much time in the preseason due to the World Cup. We’ve grown through games,” Grimau concluded.
Barcelona will face Bayern in the next round, scheduled for Friday at 20:30.
