Roger Grimau, the head coach of Barcelona, summarized the impressions after the seventh-round EuroLeague match against Crvena Zvezda.
Barcelona succeeded in achieving their goal of securing the sixth consecutive win. They celebrated a hard-fought 86-81 win, seemingly much tougher than anticipated. In the nail-biting finish, they capitalized on every mistake made by the opponent and emerged triumphant.
“We respect the opponent’s game. They have very good players, and we struggled with the organization of the attack, but we showed character. This is Blaugrana, and I’m happy for the fans. In the EuroLeague, every game is like this,” said Roger Grimau.
Jabari Parker was the leading scorer in the winning lineup, contributing 20 points, while Willy Hernangomez finished the match with 18. Jan Vesely also played a significant role with 14 points.
In the defeated team, Luka Mitrovic stood out with 22 points and six rebounds. Milos Teodosic ended the game with 13 points and nine assists, while Shabazz Napier made only one of eight attempted shots for just two points, seven assists, and three turnovers. However, in the end, he again made some irrational decisions, which the opponent knew how to capitalize on.
Next week, the so-called “double round” of the EuroLeague awaits. Crvena Zvezda will host Fenerbahce and visit Olympiacos. On the other hand, Barcelona will travel to Baskonia and play against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
