After a thrilling 2023-24 season that saw them reach the NBA Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves are set on solidifying their core with Rudy Gobert anchoring the paint for years to come.
Gobert, nearing the end of his current contract, is in line for a possible extension. Set to earn approximately $44 million for the 2024-25 season, with a player option of $46.7 million for 2025-26, the towering center remains a pivotal figure in Minnesota’s plans.
Speaking on the team’s direction, Timberwolves’ GM Tim Connelly expressed optimism about Gobert’s long-term presence:
“We envision Rudy staying with us for a very long time. As we navigate through free agency, Rudy’s impact on our success cannot be overstated. We hope this marks the end of his journey elsewhere,” Connelly shared with Chris Hine of the Star Tribune.
In his second season donning the Timberwolves jersey, Rudy Gobert showcased his prowess with averages of 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, shooting an impressive 66.1 percent from the field across 76 regular-season games. His contributions continued into the playoffs, where he maintained a steady performance with 12.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game on 61.5 percent shooting.
