Sarunas Jasikevicius spoke to the media after winning the Turkish Super League title as the head coach of Fenerbahce.
The Lithuanian coach’s team celebrated in Game 4 with an 80:72 win after overtime, winning the series 3-1 to claim the Turkish Super League title for the 11th time. Nigel Hayes-Davis was the absolute hero in the additional five minutes of play, scoring the first 12 points for his team.
Fenerbahce had the opportunity to finish the job much earlier, evidenced by their 20-point lead, but in the end, they were saved from defeat by Georgios Papagiannis’ block in the last second, securing overtime.
“These situations always create heroes. Papagiannis’ block secured us the overtime. Nigel Hayes-Davis played like Kobe Bryant. Until overtime, I wasn’t doing my job well, I couldn’t find a role for him on the court. I’m angry at myself for not being able to involve him in the game earlier. However, now it’s time to be happy and celebrate,” said Sarunas Jasikevicius.
