Sasa Obradovic, the head coach of Monaco, got into a verbal altercation with Bourg head coach Frederic Fauthoux over a certain situation.
Namely, the coach of the EuroCup finalist approached Monaco player Matthew Strazel and said to him: “Are you paying the referees?” Because of this, the Serbian expert was irritated, even though his team managed to take a 2-1 lead in the French league semifinals.
“I have to highlight something that really irritates me. After our loss on Saturday, I didn’t complain about dozens of referee mistakes during the match. I didn’t say a word. Fans do that, and it’s not uncommon. But I consider it very unfair for someone to complain that everything was given to us. We see how the opposing coach comments on every referee decision, which is also unfair but it’s done, putting pressure is part of our job. I do it myself,” said Sasa Obradovic.
“But don’t you dare tell one of my players that we pay the referees! That’s disgraceful! We need to respect the game and the season: why would we undermine the fact that our team fought like crazy to have the home-court advantage. I’m sorry, but you’ll have to congratulate me after all. The opposing coach knows very well what he said. That’s not fair, it really isn’t. Saying that we pay the referees… What kind of story is that? What kind of disrespect?”
Anyway, Monaco and Bourg will play the Game 4 tomorrow at 9:05 PM.
