Sasha Vezenkov, the Bulgarian basketball player who plays for the Sacramento Kings, has commented on the team’s slow start to the preseason in California.
The team, led by Mike Brown, has yet to secure a victory in the preseason. They have suffered losses to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors. The current EuroLeague MVP has shown promise on the court but emphasizes that some things need to change.
“Winning is a habit, and it should become a habit for us. We need to win every game, even if it’s a friendly one. We must elevate our intensity, physical conditioning, and keep progressing. We’re struggling both in offense and defense, but we’re making progress. Maybe a bit slower than we expected, but it’s still October,” the Bulgarian player began.
He then shifted his focus to his team, emphasizing how easy it is to play with teammates who have a deep understanding of basketball. He also highlighted that his adaptation period is progressing very well.
“It’s easy to play with guys who understand basketball, who know how to share the ball and play fast. I’m always ready. With every game, we’re making more progress. I’m adapting slowly; coming from abroad takes a bit more time, but I feel good,” he stated.
In the end, the former Olympiacos player talked about believing in the team’s philosophy, which was notably successful last year. The Kings made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years.
“We believe in our philosophy, rhythm, and spacing. We believe in all the things that led this team to such a high position last year, so we want to build from there. I know the standards are high, but we need patience and hard work,” Sasha Vezenkov concluded.
