Aleksandar Sekulic, coach of Slovenia, spoke before the preparatory games against Spain and the USA, who expect his selection.
Slovenia looks very good in the preparations so far. The victory against Montenegro was a prelude to the trip to Malaga, where games against the USA and Spain await them. After the victory against Montenegro, Sekulic pointed out that the team lacks firmness:
“We watched and analyzed the match against Montenegro. There are still a lot of shortcomings in our game that we need to eliminate, and we have to use the good things even more in matches. At the moment we lack firmness in defense where we need to be more specific.“
When it comes to the next opponents, the head coach points out that it is important to have strong opponents in this part of the preparations.
“It’s good that we play strong games. The first three rivals were already very high-quality teams, but now it is more difficult. We are waiting for games with the world and European champions Spain and with the Americans, both of whom are the main favorites to win the title of world champion.
In these two games, however, we will focus primarily on our own game and on the team’s performance. But it will certainly be a good opportunity to see where we are compared to the best teams in the world.“
The first match against Spain is scheduled for Friday at 21:30.
