Sergio Scariolo, the coach of Spain, has announced a list of 14 names who will compete in the games against Latvia and Belgium.
The Spaniards will play their games on February 22nd and 25th, and the experienced Italian coach has opted for well-known faces. The surprise on this list is the return of Ricky Rubio, who has yet to make an appearance for Barcelona, for whom he signed last week.
The question remains whether Rubio is on the list because Scariolo expects assistance from him on the court, or he wants his presence and experience to help some younger players who will be at the national team gathering.
Here is the list of 14 players chosen by Sergio Scariolo: Yankuba Sima (Unicaja), Alberto Abalde (Real Madrid), Joel Parra (Barcelona), Jaime Fernandez (Tenerife), Victor Claver (Valencia), Jaime Pradilla (Valencia), Rudy Fernandez (Real Madrid), Sebas Saiz (Tokyo), Dario Brizuela (Barcelona), Carlos Alocen (Real Madrid), Juancho Hernangomez (Panathinaikos), Xabi Lopez-Arostegui (Valencia), Alberto Diaz (Unicaja), Ricky Rubio (Barcelona).
