Sergio Scariolo has denied the accusations made by Virtus Bologna’s president in an interview with “Relevo” and announced a legal process.
Just a few days ago, Massimo Zanetti swiftly found a replacement for the successful coach. Luca Banchi took over as the head coach of the Bologna team, and the club’s president addressed the situation during his presentation:
“I consider Sergio Scariolo an excellent coach. I have even defended him in front of the club’s offices at times. However, all good things must come to an end, and something happened in my opinion. We should not forget various interviews with Toronto and Real Madrid while he still had a contract with Virtus, as if our team were in Serie B.”
Former Virtus coach Sergio Scariolo didn’t take the accusations lightly and responded with a denial, announcing a lawsuit:
“Everything that has been said about me is a matter for the appropriate authorities. The club provided me with a team, and I invested passion and determination to achieve something. The team was assembled by the club’s executives. The meeting with the Toronto Raptors was their wish. As for everything said about Real Madrid, it’s untrue. There were no meetings or agreements.”
The truth will ultimately be revealed over time, and it remains to be seen whether a legal dispute will indeed occur.
