Sergio Scariolo will remain as the head coach of the Spanish national team until 2028, as confirmed by the country’s federation.
The experienced Italian has spent nine successful years on the bench of the Spanish national team, which is evident from winning five gold medals (four from European Championships and one from the World Cup), along with a silver at the Olympic Games and two bronze medals (European Championship in Turkey and the Olympics in Rio).
Sergio Scariolo’s most recent coaching assignment was with Virtus (from 2021 to 2023).
In his rich coaching career, Sergio Scariolo has coached Pesaro, Desio, Fortitudo Bologna, Baskonia, Real Madrid, Unicaja, Khimki, Milano, and Virtus (before joining Virtus, he was an assistant coach on the staff of the Toronto Raptors).
