Seth Curry has been waived by the Charlotte Hornets as reported by ESPN’s insider Adrian Wojnarowski. He is hopeful of a new deal in July.
The younger Curry has been traded to the North Carolina based team last summer. The Dallas Mavericks traded him for PJ Washington, while on the other hand, the Hornets recieved Grant Williams, Seth Curry and a 2027 first-round pick. Team had a deadline today on guaranteeing Curry’s contract for the 2024-2025 season.
He had an unfortunate ending to his otherwise solid season. A right ankle sprain ended his season and he averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game.
Waiving Curry provides the Charlotte Hornets with the flexibility to negotiate a new deal with favorable free agents. The Hornets hired recently Charles Lee and also drafted Tidjane Salaun at number six in the NBA Draft.
