Shaquille O’Neal, an NBA legend, spoke about the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks.
The 2024 NBA Finals are shaping up to be an intriguing matchup, with the Boston Celtics emerging as the favorites over the Dallas Mavericks. However, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is bucking the trend, offering a different perspective on the series outcome during his appearance on TNT’s Inside the NBA.
In Shaq’s view, the key factor favoring the Mavericks is their star player, Luka Doncic. Shaq pointed out the challenge the Celtics would face in containing Doncic, highlighting the lack of multiple defenders capable of effectively guarding him.
“The Celtics do not have three or four guys that can guard Luka,” Shaq remarked, indicating his preference for Dallas in the series. He also emphasized the significance of the matchup for certain players, such as Kyrie Irving and Kristaps Porzingis, adding a layer of motivation for both sides.
Shaq’s admiration for Doncic’s game was evident as he praised the young phenom’s physicality and composure on the court. He noted Doncic’s ability to control the game, likening his style to that of a seasoned big man.
“This is like my first time seeing him (Doncic) a lot,” Shaq commented, acknowledging his surprise at Doncic’s size and strength. He highlighted Doncic’s poise and experience as a professional player since a young age, making him a formidable force on the court.
