The anticipation for the highly awaited FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 intensifies as Slovenia reveals its extended roster for the prestigious global tournament.
The extended 15-player lineup features stars like Luka Doncic, Vlatko Cancar, and Klemen Prepelic. Following a close 91:98 loss to Greece in a friendly match in Ljubljana, head coach Aleksander Sekulic dropped Sasa Ciani.
Due to a pending arrival, Slovenia will initially compete with 14 players, as Mike Tobey is yet to join. A tough decision awaits coach Sekulic, who must choose between Jordan Morgan, 31, and Mike Tobey, adhering to FIBA’s single naturalized player rule.
Slovenia is set to compete in Group F in Okinawa, Japan, facing Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela. Progressing to the Second Round could mean a clash with Group E contenders: Germany, Finland, Australia, and host nation Japan.
