Slovenia secured their first victory in the preparatory matches before the FIBA World Cup. After being defeated twice by Greece, the Slovenians triumphed over Montenegro with a score of 104-100.
At the start of the game, Slovenia took a early lead 7-0 and had an eight-point advantage at one point. However, Montenegro managed to narrow the gap to 25-22. Slovenia then scored seven consecutive points towards the end of the first quarter, establishing a double-digit lead.
In the second quarter, Montenegro started off strong with a 16-4 run, taking the lead at 38-36. The rest of the first half was a fiercely contested battle, with Slovenia going into halftime with a slim two-point lead.
At the beginning of the second half, Montenegro had the upper hand, taking a 61-55 lead. However, Slovenia stepped up their game on both offense and defense, allowing them to stage a comeback and take the lead with a score of 81-73.
Montenegro put up a fight till the end. Despite being behind by a significant margin, they managed to narrow the gap and get within two points of Slovenia. However, Slovenia held their ground and prevented Montenegro from making a comeback, ultimately clinching the win.
Luka Doncic played a pivotal role in leading his team to victory with an impressive triple double, 34 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists. Along with him, Klemen Prepelic contributed 17 points, Bine Prepelic, and Jordan Morgan contributed with 10 both of them. On the opposing team, Vladimir Mihailovic emerged as the top scorer with 26 points, Radoncic score 17 points.
In the upcoming FIBA World Cup, Slovenia will be competing in Group F, where their opponents will be Georgia, Cape Verde, and Venezuela. On the other hand, Montenegro will be in Group D and will be playing against Lithuania, Mexico, and Egypt.
