Split secured its second win of the season in the ABA League by defeating Mornar in a bottom-of-the-table clash in Bar, by 93:76.
Mornar had a better start to the game, taking an early 7:0 lead. At one point, the home team even had a double-digit advantage, leading 19:9. However, towards the end of the first quarter, Split improved their performance, closing the gap and reducing the deficit to three points.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Mornar maintained a five-point lead. Midway through the second period, Split staged a comeback. The rest of the first half saw a closely contested battle, with the home team heading into halftime with a two-point lead.
In the continuation of the match, the visiting team played better. Through effective plays on both ends of the court, Slaven Rimac’s team orchestrated a comeback. Despite Mornar’s attempts, they couldn’t regain the lead. With excellent offensive solutions in the closing moments of the third quarter, the team from Split gained a seven-point advantage.
At the beginning of the final quarter, Split practically resolved any doubts about the winner. With outstanding play on both ends of the court, they established a 15-point lead. They maintained their advantage until the end of the game, easily securing the victory.
Lewis Sullivan finished the game with 22 points, while Dwight Murray on the opposing side scored 21 points.
Split now has two wins and seven losses and will face Krka in the next game. Mornar, with only one win, will play against Igokea in the upcoming round.
