Strasbourg defeated Obradorio 82-78 in the final game of the FIBA Basketball Champions League qualifiers held in Antalya.
In the first 15 minutes, there were a total of seven lead changes. The first quarter was a real back-and-forth battle. Neither team managed to establish control, and this part of the game ended with a score of 24-22 in favor of the Spanish team.
After that, a very likely turning point in the game occurred. Strasbourg went on a 10-2 run during this stretch, and after that, Obradorio never took the lead again in the remaining thirty minutes. The score at halftime was 47-38, and we witnessed some excellent basketball for the remainder of the game.
Obradorio tried to mount a comeback. In the middle of the third quarter, they managed to cut the deficit to just two points, but coach Massimo Cancellieri’s team remained focused. They went on a 5-0 run, putting Strasbourg back in control.
It seemed like Strasbourg would win comfortably, leading by 14 points in the final quarter, but the Spanish representatives didn’t give up. They clawed back to within four points, but ultimately didn’t have enough strength for a complete turnaround. In the end, the French team won 82-78 and joined the teams in Group E, which includes Pinar Karsiyaka, Oostende, and Oldenburg.
Quinton Hooker was the standout performer with 18 points, and Phil Booth made a significant contribution with 17 points coming off the bench. Tres Trinckle led the losing side with 16 points, and it’s worth mentioning the contribution of Thomas Scrubb, who had 14 points.
