Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk remains in the NBA. Although it seemed at one point that he would sign for Panathinaikos, the Ukrainian arrives in Boston.
After becoming a free agent this summer, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk began to be linked with clubs playing in the EuroLeague. The most mentioned was his arrival in the ranks of Panathinaikos, which creates a powerful team.
However, nothing will come of it. According to Shams Charania, the Ukrainian will play for the Boston Celtics next season. Two sides reached agreement for one-year deal.
Mykhailiuk came to the strongest basketball league in the world in 2018, when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers. After that, he was in Detroit, Toronto, Oklahoma, New York. The last team he played for was the Charlotte Hornets.
It was in the Charlotte jersey that he played the best games. He played 19 games for the Hornets, averaging 10.6 points and 2.7 rebounds. Boston will thus be the seventh club for which the Ukrainian will play in the NBA.
Since the beginning of the offseason, Mykhailiuk has given priority to the NBA market despite the strong interest coming from Europe. Panathinaikos now will need to look elsewhere in order to finalize the roster for next season.
