Paris point guard T.J. Shorts stated why he chose the French team after his stint in Bonn.
Shorts is the leader of the team, which currently sits at the top of the EuroCup standings. Paris has a 7-1 record in Group A, with their first setback coming recently against Besiktas. The achievement is also credited to coach Tuomas Iisalo, with whom the diminutive North Macedonian national team player had previously collaborated in Bonn.
“He quickly gave me his trust and allowed me to be myself on the court. That’s the main reason I came to Paris, knowing that the team has high ambitions for this season and the next, especially regarding qualification for the EuroLeague,” Shorts said to BeBasket.
The Paris player continued the story about the Finnish coach.
“He talks a lot with me during meetings and gives me a lot of instructions. The same goes off the court. He sends me video clips, provides advice, even through messages. He forwards me some articles, like the one with Tyrese Haliburton recently. He’s trying to help me progress, and that’s invaluable. He’s a kind of mentor for me, has a lot of knowledge,” Shorts conveyed.
