In the first half, we watched a very evenly matched game where both teams played phenomenally on offense. The Indiana Pacers continued with their style of play, recording an incredible 24 team assists in the first half. The halftime score was 64:64.
Indiana Pacers took the lead in the final moments of the game, going up by three with a basket from Andrew Nembhard 47 seconds before the end. Time was running out for the Celtics, who started one of their last attacks with about 10 seconds left. However, Pascal Siakam, the 2019 NBA champion, made an inexplicable mistake—a Celtics ball was going out of bounds, but he touched it unnecessarily, giving the home team a sideline inbounds play.
As is often the case, the Celtics took advantage of this, the ball in the next possession went to the corner to Jaylen Brown, who stretched out and beautifully hit a three-pointer over Siakam to tie the game and force overtime.
Jayson Tatum was the top scorer for the Boston Celtics with 36 points and 12 rebounds as he was followed by Jrue Holiday who had 28 while Jaylen Brown who had 26 points. Tyrese Haliburton stood out for the Indiana Pacers with 25 points and 10 assists, Pascal Siakam had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Myles Turner had 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Boston Celtics now lead by 1-0 in the series, with the next game scheduled in two days (hosted by the Celtics).
