Brazilian basketball player Bruno Caboclo has decided to play for a team he does not have a contract with for the upcoming season, according to Israeli media reports.
Caboclo, after outstanding performances with Ulm and winning a championship title, signed with Venezia. He had an even better summer in terms of the FIBA World Cup. He was one of the leaders for Brazil, which ultimately failed to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
After the conclusion of the global event, instead of reporting for training with his new team, the Brazilian center has opted for a different move.
Caboclo is close to an agreement with the Maccabi Ra’anana club, which is expecting an American tour. The agreement would be only for friendly matches against the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sportando reports that Venezia has already taken legal action to protect itself. The contract of the Brazilian, who signed this summer, does not include an exit clause and does not allow for participation in friendly matches without the permission of the Italian club.
During the previous global event, Caboclo averaged 16.4 points and 9.2 rebounds. As for his season in Ulm, he averaged 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds.
The Brazilian center also has an NBA career behind him, having played for the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets. He then joined the French team Limoges from there.
