The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Orlando Magic at home by 97:83 in the first game of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series in the NBA.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had a fantastic start to the game. Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley were on fire in the first quarter, each scoring 10 points and giving the home team a 33:26 lead.
The second quarter was a bit less efficient, the Orlando Magic struggled to find their rhythm, with only Paolo Banchero reaching double digits by halftime. Jarrett Allen joined the aforementioned duo, and it was mostly through him that the Ohio team found solutions on offense, extending their lead to 53:41 by halftime.
The Magic played better in the third quarter. At one point, they managed to cut the lead to 60:56, but the team led by coach J.B. Bickerstaff responded with a 13:2 run, entering the final quarter with a huge +15 lead (73:58). The home team opened the final period excellently, increasing their lead to +20, and they maintained their advantage comfortably until the end of the game.
In the winning team, Donovan Mitchell was the top scorer with 30 points, while Evan Mobley had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jarrett Allen also had a great game for the home team with 16 points and 17 rebounds. For the Orlando Magic, Paolo Banchero led the way with 24 points, followed by Franz Wagner with 18 points and Jalen Suggs with 13 points.
The Cleveland Cavaliers now lead the series 1-0, and the next game will be played on Tuesday morning at 01:00, with the Cavaliers hosting once again.
