Their defense appeared particularly strong, holding last year’s finalists to just 20 points while scoring 36 themselves in the opening quarter. However, the momentum shifted in the second quarter as Miami managed to narrow the gap, leaving Denver with only a five-point lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Nuggets once again pulled ahead, and this time it seemed decisive. Heading into the final quarter with a 13-point lead, Denver fended off Miami’s attempts to rally, ultimately clinching a crucial victory.
Leading the winning team was Michael Porter Jr., who notched an impressive 30 points and 11 rebounds. Nikola Jokic took a less aggressive approach but still contributed with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. On the opposing side, Bam Adebayo scored 22 points alongside eight rebounds.
The Atlanta Hawks suffered another decisive defeat, this time against the Brooklyn Nets with a score of 124-97. The game started strongly in favor of the Nets, and it seemed they might dominate from the outset, building an 18-point lead in the first quarter. However, the Hawks managed to claw back and reduce the deficit to just six points.
Nevertheless, from the beginning of the third quarter, it was clear that only one team was in control. Miami lost the last two quarters by a margin of 21 points each, indicating an inevitable defeat as the Brooklyn Nets secured a crucial win following a series of poor results.
Cameron Johnson led the winning team with 29 points, supported by Dennis Schroder’s 23. Dejounte Murray scored 28 points for Atlanta.
