Klay Thompson has been an integral part of the Golden State Warriors’ success over the as one of the Splash Brothers alongside Stephen Curry.
The Golden State Warriors have failed to secure a deal with Klay Thompson as the free agency window closes in.
It appears that there won’t be any significant change in the next 24 hours, which means that the five-time All-Star’s exit from the Bay Area seems inevitable.
While this is undeniably heartbreaking for Dub Nation, the truth is that this has been a long time coming.

Shams Charania and Anthony Slater published a comprehensive report on The Athletic providing the latest developments on Thompson’s future with the Warriors. Apparently, Golden State did not table an offer for the 34-year-old.
The front office reportedly had other matters on its plate, planning to address Thompson’s contract issue after other more important concerns had been resolved. However, Charania and Slater reported that Klay “isn’t expected to be there waiting as a willing secondary priority in their summer plan, with his side feeling that the Warriors’ interest in a reunion has been disingenuous.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t a new narrative. Klay Thompson has reportedly felt neglected and unappreciated over the past couple of years, watching the Warriors make moves that seem to usher in a new era without him:
“This split is a major stunner across the league, given the deep history between the Warriors and Thompson, but it’s been trending this direction for a couple seasons, as Thompson’s extension talks stalled, his role shifted, the team failed to make the playoffs, the Warriors drafted (Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski) and extended (Jordan Poole) possible replacements under him and he never felt reciprocated love from management about his firm place in the franchise’s plans, league sources said,” the report stated.
