Borac Cacak easily defeated FMP 96-75 on their home court in the regional ABA League, in the eighth round.
In the opening minutes, the game was evenly matched, and neither team managed to establish a comfortable lead until the end of the first quarter when the home team raised their level of play and went up by eight points after a basket by Aleksa Uskokovic. It was evident that such a turn of events at the start of the match would significantly determine the course of the game.
Borac Cacak flirted with a double-digit lead, and FMP initially resisted, keeping somewhat close until Darko Talic hit a three-pointer for a plus 11. Following his lead, Dejan Mijatovic’s team continued to break the resistance of the opponent, after which the lead only grew from minute to minute. After Filip Rebraca’s basket, Borac Cacak reached a maximum lead of plus 17.
During this season, FMP has had games where they trailed in the first half, only to make up for it with aggressive play in the second half. Typically, this involved a high level of aggression, but this time their opponent simply did not allow it. Not only that, but as time passed, the match threatened to turn into a debacle for the “panthers,” when Tasic scored for a plus 23 in the middle of the third quarter.
Mijatovic’s team did not relent even after a high surplus. On the contrary, they continued to break the opponent stronger and stronger, leaving them with no theoretical chance for anything other than a defeat. Thus, with a plus 27 five minutes before the end, it was already clear that Borac Cacak would leave the court more satisfied, and that’s exactly what happened.
The top scorers for the winners were Ja’von Franklin with 20 points and Ronaldo Segu with 17, while the guests were led by Hugo Besson with 21 points.
After this victory, Borac Cacak has a record of 4-4, and the opponent is at 3-5. In the next round, Borac will visit Partizan, and FMP will host Studentski centar.
